Saturday we met up again after Mark had completed his
baseball coaching clinic commitment and headed for the sights. We went first to
the oldest Spanish Mission established in 1769 and crashed a wedding. What a cool place to have a wedding.
Then we continued on downtown to Old Town San Diego. SD was the first settlement established in all
of California way back in the early 1800's when it was still under Spanish/Mexican rule. We loved
the Spanish and Wild West feel to it, so different to Williamsburg, Jamestown
and Charleston. What a diverse country this is!
The GPS then took us a weird route to a Skeels favourite Mexican Restaurant Rubiosfor a late lunch link . Serious yumminess! We drove through the downtown area past Queenstown (a new kiwi restaurant complete, with a room that had fake grass on the ceiling and sheep walking on it – the Downunder look I guess), past the cruise ships and USS Midway then up past Balboa Park as we lost the light and headed for home.

Mark and Jen, Jeff and I abandoned Auntie Dee and the children
to go out for dinner out at the local Applebees. Nice chance to chat and get to
know each other a bit better. We then tried to get a slightly earlier night
ready for 9am church the next morning.
