It is only a short drive through a couple of canyons to the
desert and Palm Springs. This is a
landscape of USA we have not seen and so it was a real treat to enjoy a day in
the desert. Coming into the valley near Palm Springs we were surprised
to see it filled with wind turbines and solar panels. The photos only show a few but some of
them are truly massive. Wind Farm

On to Palm Springs and we decided to head to the LivingDesert Zoo which was a good choice. Both the botanical and animal life was spectacular.
To top it off they had a very cool model train set up.

Fennec Fox
Golden Eagle
Porcupine
Serval
Cute parrot
Laura enjoyed a camel ride...
We left the animals behind...
...and drove through downtown Palm Springs which is
like Queenstown on steroids – shops and restaurants and resort hotels all in
the middle of the desert!
